Whole Home Audio
One of Savant's strongest features is distributed audio, often called whole-home audio. Instead of every room needing its own stereo receiver, Savant uses centralized amplifiers and networking to send music anywhere in the house.
What is an Audio Zone?
An audio zone is simply an independent listening area. Every room becomes its own listening area, completely independent of the others.
Grouped Rooms
Or... you can group rooms together. For example, your Kitchen, Dining Room, and Living Room can all play the exact same music perfectly synchronized.
There is no echo because Savant keeps every amplifier perfectly timed.
IP Zoned Audio
Traditional distributed audio sends analog signals from one amplifier. Modern Savant systems increasingly use IP Audio (Audio over Ethernet). Instead of sending music over speaker wire from one location, audio is transported digitally across the home's network.
"Think of it this way... Traditional audio is like running separate extension cords everywhere. IP Audio is like sending email over the internet. The network becomes the delivery system."
Advantages Include:
- + Better sound quality
- + Less signal loss
- + Unlimited expansion
- + Easier installation
- + Flexible room additions
- + Lower latency
- + Digital synchronization
- + Simplified wiring
Endless Streaming Sources
A Savant system can access numerous entertainment sources. Each source can be routed to any room effortlessly.
Video Distribution & The Matrix
Video distribution allows you to watch any source on any television. Instead of placing an Apple TV, Roku, Cable Box, or Xbox behind every television, all sources are installed in a central equipment rack. Then every TV simply requests whichever source you want.
What is a Video Matrix?
The heart of video distribution is called a Video Matrix Switch. Think of it like an intelligent traffic controller. Instead of physically moving HDMI cables every time you want a different source, the matrix electronically routes any source to any display.
Suppose the system has 8 Video Sources and 16 Televisions. An 8×16 matrix means any of those 8 inputs can be routed to any of the 16 outputs simultaneously.
Why Centralize Equipment?
Cleaner Aesthetics
Televisions become sleek, ultra-thin displays on the wall with absolutely no visible hardware, black boxes, or messy wiring behind them.
Multi-Room Convenience
Watch the same football game throughout the house, display security cameras on any screen, or pause a movie in the living room and finish it in bed.
Simplified Maintenance
Dedicated racks provide better ventilation, reduced noise in living spaces, centralized upgrades, and simpler professional troubleshooting.
Integrated Control & The Savant Experience
Integrated TV & Theater Control
With Savant, selecting an activity handles everything behind the scenes. Pressing "Movie Night" in your theater doesn't just turn on a screen. It lowers the projection screen, powers the projector, sets the surround sound, dims the lights, closes the shades, and adjusts the HVAC—all automatically.
Control the entire estate through the Savant App, sleek wall-mounted touch panels, dedicated remotes, or voice commands like "Play jazz on the patio" or "Turn off all TVs."
